Translation

Add a language

Brickser translates a finished site into any of 67 languages, keeping the layout intact and translating only the words.

  1. Open the Translation panel.
  2. Select a language. The picker has a search box — start typing to filter the list.
  3. Wait. Brickser duplicates each page and translates it in place.

You'll see a running status in the language's own words — Añadiendo traducción…, Übersetzung wird hinzugefügt… — and a completion message when it finishes.

Generate the original first

Translation copies from an existing page. If a page hasn't been generated yet, its row shows Generate original first and it's skipped.

Build the site in your source language, get it how you want it, then translate. Translating a half-finished page just means translating it again later.

Headers and footers too

The panel lists Sitemap, Header and Footer rows. Header and footer are translated as well, so navigation labels, buttons and footer links come across — not just page bodies.

Each language gets its own header and footer, shown to visitors on that language's pages.

Reviewing and fixing

Translated pages are ordinary Bricks pages. Open one and edit anything that reads badly — machine translation is a strong first draft, not a final one.

Pay attention to short strings. Button labels and nav items have the least context and are where you'll find the occasional odd choice.

Removing a language

Removing a language deletes its translated pages, its header and its footer.

Warning

This deletes the translated pages, including any hand edits you made to them. Re-adding the language re-translates from the original and won't bring your corrections back.

Remove that language and add it again. The re-run picks up the header and footer properly.
